First of all, Hello and thank you for having me on the blog Katie, its so nice to be able to write for another great blog. For those of you that don’t know (which will be most) my name is Alice Rose and I blog over at AliceRose.co which is a mixture of lifestyle, beauty & health. I’ll also leave my social media links at the bottom.
This post is all about my experience trying out some of the key Summer Beauty trends seen on the cat walk this season. The trends this season seem to be a healthy mix of what you would expect and also what you really wouldn’t with some nostalgia thrown in.
The 70s throw back trend is all over the high street and this make up look is one for festivals and the more brave beauty lovers with 70s Tropical Eyes seen on the models for Alexis Mabille in Paris. This was probably the easiest look to re-recreate and possibly my favourite. I created this using the Max Factor Wild Shadow Pots in Untamed Green, Turquoise Fury & Fierce Pink , Mac Please Me Lipstick & Mac Strobe Cream.
Bold Brows were everywhere from Christopher Kane to Celine and I just had to give it a go. It was a difficult one for me as I have super blonde thin brows but using the Rimmel Brow This Way & Natural Collection Clear Lashcare Mascara it wasn’t too difficult. One for everyday.
Bold dark red lips was not a trend I expected to see but its an interesting look for summer. Not one I think I would enjoy wearing on a super sunny day but It looked great at the Giles and Topshop Unique shows at London Fashion Week. I used Maybelline Colour Drama Intense Velvet Lip Pencil in Red Essential for my version. To go for the 90s grunge look you could always add a little kohl too.
Hair trends seem to be very undone this season which is perfect for me. Temperley did low texturised pony tails, Thomas Tait did twists and Vivienne Westwood did perfectly messy styles. I tried to recreate them and think the low pony is probably the best understated style for a wedding or special occassion.
Finally doll eyes and a bright complexion are perfect and wearable all year round so I’m always glad to give this one a go. I would go as far as the Thomas Tait make up but I think the Nars Audacious mascara has given mine a more wearable version of this trend. I finished this off with Mac Please Me Lipstick & Mac Strobe Cream.
So there are the Summer Beauty trends for 2016. Let me know what you liked, what you didnt and check out my links below – thanks 🙂
