I’m sure you all know by now – if not where have you be en? A very exciting start to the year as a week ago I moved into my first home with my fiancé! We have finally stepped onto the property ladder!
Whilst it’s incredibly exciting, it’s also nerve wracking. When we got the call to say that our keys were at the estate agents, my heart went into my mouth. I was jumping around the house with Kayne shouting ‘this is it!’, I then gave my parents a hug and a kiss, sudden sadness swept over me. This was me flying the nest. I could see the sadness in my parents eyes that their daughter was leaving home.
Putting the keys into the front door did not seem real, nor did walking around the house – checking out all the rooms. We wanted just a couple minutes to ourselves to get to grips with what was happening before we told everyone to come down and start bringing stuff to the house. It just didn’t seem real. It was quite sweet, I was stood in the front room with a couple tears down my cheeks. My emotions just went into over drive. Kayne came over, gave me a hug and a kiss and just said “This is the start of forever”.
Not long after, the waves of flatpack furniture came piling in amongst boxes and suitcases galore. We managed to get a fair whack of it done on moving day which I was really happy about. The day couldn’t have gone smoother in my opinion.
We are now pretty much unpacked and in the process of redecorating the rooms. We’ve done pretty good to say it’s been a week!
It’s an incredibly big bag of emotions when you move out and into your own place. I’m really happy though and excited to see what happens in the next chapter of our lives together. It does feel weird, don’t get me wrong – I’m so used to the four walls of my old bedroom, it was my room and my home for 22 years after all.
I can’t wait to include some future posts with updates on our home! But for now here’s a couple snaps of our new place (before the furniture came – I haven’t had chance to take proper photos with our stuff in yet!
