There’s tonnes of subscription boxes out there. Some that are fantastic, some that are decent and some that are meh. It’s quite difficult to justify spending money on a regular basis on a subscription box where you have no idea if you’re going to even like it. In this post, I will give you an honest first impressions opinion on the new Curated Combination subscription box!
So where shall I begin?
The Curated Combination* is a new subscription box that have just launched. The box has been created by Sam and Katy who – if you don’t know are bloggers themselves. You should totally go check them out! So one of the catchlines is ‘for bloggers, by bloggers’ but obviously non bloggers can get this box too! One great thing about Curated Combination is they get what people want, they know what products people like. They don’t give you the travel sizes or the samples, they give you the full works. You get 5 full sized products, which I think is pretty decent.
The box is just £12.50 a month! – Baring in mind that these products are full size, you’re probably getting £30-40+ worth of products easily for less than £15.00. That my friends, is what you call a bargain!
Without further a due, here’s what was inside my box!
Portlebay Popcorn – Cinnamon Swirl*
Oh. My. God. It’s like they read my mind. I LOVE all things cinnamon and I love popcorn. So these two put together = dream. I was pretty interested to see what it would taste like as cinnamon can sometimes be a bit overpowering. Let’s just say – my mum tried these too (also a huge cinnamon lover) and I had to hide these from her. There was just the right level of cinnamon and sweet, the popcorn wasn’t too crunchy or too soft, it was just right! I ate them in minutes, the only bad side to them is that I want more!
Toni & Guy Moisturising Shine Spray*
So recently, my hair has felt pretty limp and dry since I re-dyed it. It’s in need of some major TLC. I’ve been using some products that have helped a lot. I just want my hair to be back in the condition it was a couple years ago… (I should probably just stop dying it, that’d be a good start). I’ve only tried this twice since receiving the product, but I’m happy with my first impressions. It’s pretty simple to use, when your hair is blow dried, simply spritz this on your hair, brush through and voila! It’s made my hair so soft when I have used this. I have noticed that my hair hasn’t knotted as much – whether it’s supposed to do that or not I’m not sure but I’ll take it!
Bramley Hand Cream*
In all honesty, this was probably the product I was least excited about. Purely because Lavender and I do not get on. I’m not sure what it is about lavender but I just can’t handle the smell, it makes me feel weird and hurts my nose. I gave this hand cream the benefit of the doubt because it is mixed in with Geranium and Petitgrain too. I’m so glad it is because the lavender barely comes through. This hand cream sits on my desk because I get really dry hands at work and so far so good. The smell, I can deal with and my hands feel soooo soft after using this.
Makeup Geek Plush Matte Liquid Lipstick *
When I saw this in the box I did a little squeal. I’m a HUGE lipstick lover and it’s very clear to see on my Instagram, blog and by speaking to me (lol, I realise I have no life) so when I found this I was over the moon. It’s a liquid lipstick and it’s matte – my two favourite things. This is in the shade Beauty Queen and it’s such a beautiful, classic red. I just wish I had this when I did my post on must have bright lips for the summer! The applicator is lovely and it makes a really nice, smooth application. The drying time is on the longer side but it’s very moisturising which is a good thing of course. It’s incredibly pigmented too which I love, I can’t handle patchy lips!
Gosh Infinity Eyeliner*
Gosh is a brand I used to love but ended up leaving behind, I’m not really sure why I stopped using them because they’re such a good brand. I was chuffed to see that there was an infinity eyeliner in there. The liner is super creamy and glides on so easy. With a lot of pencil liners, I tend to go over a few times because they need building on. However, with this there was no need. You also get a little sponge on the other end which you can use to blend your liner out with to create a softer look which is pretty cool. I’m starting to do more makeup looks so this will be great to use because it comes out a gorgeous deep blue!
Ark Skincare Primer*
I was pretty excited about this one, I love primers but I don’t really explore the primer world. I’m one of those people who finds a product they like and they stick with it. So this is me venturing. It’s really important to look after your skin. Some people actually believe that wearing makeup will protect your skin from the sun… If it has SPF in then fair enough but there are loads of major brands that don’t actually have SPF in their products. This primer has SPF 30 in which is brilliant and ideal for anyone going on holiday. I’ve used this a few times and it really sets my makeup and my skin feels amazing when I’ve applied this.
Finally in this wonderful lil’ box is this Tote bag from Superdrug*. It’s not in the main photo simply because I couldn’t get a decent shot of it. I got pretty mad taking photos not gonna lie! Anyway, I think the bag is super cute with the nicest quote ‘Gloss like a boss’. Plus the quote is in rose gold/copper foil lips. What more could you want? The tote bag seems pretty sturdy so you could use it for most things – food shopping, carrying all your books if you’re a student, general shopping – you name it!
All in all, my first impressions of this box are pretty dang good. Super impressed with the products inside Curated Combination. I can’t quite believe the quality of the box for such a small price, it’s amazing really. You should definitely go check out their website, Twitter and Instagram! Katy and Sam have clearly put their heart and souls into creating this brand and it goes to show. A round of applause to them!
