Tarte Cosmetics… Where oh where do I begin? This brand has risen quickly to one of my favourites and I’m so desperate to try more from them. It’s a brand that everyone has raved about for the past year and it’s not difficult to see why it is a must have brand!
I wish Tarte Cosmetics was more accessible in the UK, you can only really get them from QVC UK, which is slightly frustrating because QVC only have limited stock. So of course, if you want to make a Tarte order then sadly, you’re likely to get hit with the dreaded customs fee…
I first experienced Tarte when I went to Florida in July 2016 when I picked up the Graveyard Girl/Swamp Queen Palette – which is super cute! You get a blush, bronzer, highlighter and 9 eyeshadows. I used it a couple times but it was a palette I just put to the back of my collection with no actual reason why. It wasn’t until I had a mini clear out that I rediscovered it and my love for Tarte was re-ignited! One good thing about Tarte Cosmetics is that they are cruelty free and have Vegan friendly products available!
So, off I plodded to the QVC website…
I soon saw what they had on offer and that’s when things got a tad dangerous – I discovered that some Tarte products were on a payment plan, which in every beauty lovers mind means “buy more, you’re not really paying full price…” Let’s just say Kayne was not best pleased!
First up is the Tarte Cosmetics Rainforest of the Sea foundation
There have been some mixed reviews on this and I can see why in all honesty. It’s an… odd foundation. There’s no other way to put it. It’s a ‘water based’ foundation so I guess it’s good for your skin because it hydrates but the coverage is just really odd. I’d say it’s definitely light-medium medium and it does blend wonderfully. It feels super light on your skin too which of course is a bonus. If you can – try get a sample of this before you commit to a full size bottle just in case you don’t like it. A few people I know have despised this foundation and regretted getting it. However, despite it’s oddness – I really enjoyed it using it and I’m gutted it’s empty now! FYI,it smells amaaaazing too.
Lights, Camera, Lashes Mascara
Holy moly, this mascara is incredible. It was first recommended to me by Hayley from Tea Party Beauty and obviously I trust Hayley’s judgement. It was up on QVC for £21.00 for one full sized mascara or £24.00 for two – that’s right -TWO! It’s such a bloody bargain, it was hard to say no. I should’ve probably thought it all through incase I didn’t like the mascara but my conscious was screaming “dooooo it, dooo it”… So yeah. That happened. Anyway, the wand isn’t a wand I particularly like, I’m not a huge fan of the ‘spoolie brush’ style wands because I find they tend to clump much more but this surprisingly doesn’t. It really accentuates the lashes and gives them a natural, gorgeous curl. I’m pretty impressed with it so far and I’m super critical of mascaras (that and eyebrow products).
Tartelette in Bloom 2 Palette
Oh… My… God. This palette is probably one of, if not my favourite palette. I wear the hell out of this beauty. If you want a more in depth review of this palette – you can check that out here! But to put it plain and simple – this palette is a must for any beauty lover! It’s just all kinds of perfect. I won’t talk about this product too much because there’s a blog post that already raves about it!
Rainforest of the Sea Skin Twinkle Lighting Palette vol.II
WHY, have I not tried this palette sooner? I absolutely adore this palette. QVC do a fantastic offer where you can also get the Tarte Cosmetics highlighting fan brush for a bargain price of £29.52! Spoiler alert- the fan brush is fantastic! It’s my go-to brush for the perfect glow. The highlighters are seriously pigmented and super buttery which I LOVE. They’re all the typical golden tones that I tend to go for. Daylight and Skylight are definitely my favourites. A quick run down of the shades from left to right: Daylight – white gold, Skylight – Pearl, Spotlight – Champagne and Candlelight – Rose Gold. A little bit of product goes such a long way. This palette is definitely my current go-to. This also smells amaaaazing and I will be doing a more in depth blog post on this product (with swatches).
So as luck would have it, the Shape Tape concealer has JUST come back in stock on QVC website! YAAAAS! Literally as I was typing out this post, I saw Kasie from Kasie Beauty (aka the biggest enabler ever but the nicest lass too) tweet saying it was back in stock. So after much begging to Kayne, he caved and well… The rest is history! Keep your eyes open for a review post on this!
