We all love some retail therapy and giving ourselves some TLC, am I right or am I right? I’m a sucker for *accidentally* purchasing a shiny new lipstick, 3 palettes, 4 tops, 8 pyjama sets, 10 blankets, adopting a tiger and buying a villa in the Maldives all in one go. Ok, maybe not the Maldives… A girl can dream though right? So, with that in mind, why should you treat yo self to every single thing in this post?
My favourite saying. As my friends will tell you, I am probably the worst enabler when it comes to buying things. You want that new makeup palette? Treat yo self. Should you spend £50 on a dress that you’re only going to wear once? Treat yo self. Should you go on an all inclusive holiday to Mexico? Treat yo self. You want to buy a spaceship? Treat yo self.
As Donna and Tom would say, treat yo self – the greatest day of the year. This is a Parks and Rec reference. If you don’t get it, we can no longer be friends, sorry.
Everything in this post is Katie approved – as if this is a legit thing – some are new, some are old. Some are just bloody incredible and need to be a staple in every persons beauty draw (draws, desk, wardrobe, room, house). I think ‘treat yourself’ is going to be a regular feature on the blog. What dya think? You might want to grab a drink and something tasty to eat, this post is gonna be a longggg one!
Treat yo self…
First up we have the AMAZING Stila Cosmetics Written in the Stars Set which are literally something else. I have been after trying the liquid metals eyeshadow for so long but I’ve not been able to justify the price. I say that but now I’ve tried them, it’s going to be a different story. This set is amazing value for money. It’s £25.00 and you get three shades – Kitten Karma, Diamond Dust and Smoky Storm, it’s not difficult to see why these lil’ beauties have taken the beauty world by storm. Plus, it’s also clear to see why everyone raves about Kitten Karma, it is perfection. I just want more of them now!
Kitten Karma is a stunning copper/champagne. I’ve loved using this for the inner corners of my eyes, teamed up with Colourpop Cosmetics Yes Please palette. Diamond Dust is pretty self explanatory – it’s a beautiful silver and gives me mega unicorn vibes with the multicolour glitter hint to it. Smoky Storm is everything I thought it would be! Perfect for the dramatic eye look. Stila Cosmetics always do really good gift sets around this time of the year. This is going to be a firm favourite for Christmas and for just y’know, generally treating yo self. I need to check out the rest of their gift sets!
Speaking of Colourpop Cosmetics, you all need to treat yo self to a few things from there…
Since it’s free international shipping for orders over $50, it would’ve been rude to not go all out and get my moneys worth!
The Yes Please palette is one of their best selling products and it’s easy to see why. I was umming and aahing about this palette for so long but after seeing some beautiful looks created with it, I caved. Yes, it is another warm toned palette and I already own 2134566 of them. But hear me out, this was a necessary purchase.
There’s twelve shades in the palette, a great mixture of matte and metallic, nude and bold shades. The pigments in this palette are incredible and I’ve experienced minimal if no fall out with this. The shadows are so buttery and just apply like an absolute dream. I can’t get enough of it.
It’s $16.00 so this can work out pretty good depending on the exchange rate at the time. I’ve not even packed this away into my palette draw yet, it’s sitting proudly on my dressing table. If you’re looking for an affordable palette (ignore the customs, for just a minute pls) that in my opinion, is on par with Naked Heat, Modern Renaissance and Tartelette in Bloom. They’re my all time favourite palettes so this should give you a rough idea of how highly I rate the Yes Please palette. 10/10 for me.
Lumiere is beautiful – and I don’t mean Lumiere the talking candle from Beauty and the Beast…
I’m talking about Colourpop Cosmetics Lippie Stix and Lippie Pencil! I’ve always loved the formula of the lippie stix, they’re really creamy and have a matte finish. They’re not drying at all and last really well on the lips. I have a few of these now, including Grunge, Flawless, Baewatch and Tootsi. Lumiere is definitely my favourite at the moment. It is a perfect pink nude and can be worn for everything and anything. The lippie pencil is also amazing, it does exactly what a lip pencil should do but is the perfect match for Lumiere and many other pink nude lipsticks that I own. These are definitely worth treating yo self to, they’re only $5.00 each!
When it comes to fake tan,
I’m a bit of a noob when it comes to tanning, not gonna lie. However, St. Moriz are quickly becoming a fast favourite for me, the noobiest of all fake tan noobs. The brand was actually recommended to me by Nikki who FYI is a total babe and she is a fake tan pro. So when I was given the chance to try out the St. Moriz Velvet Finish Tanning Gel*, I practically jumped at the chance!
So like I said, I’m not the best when it comes to tanning so I want something that’s easy, non streaky and will make me feel sassy. Thank the Lord for St. Moriz! I’ve never quite experienced a fake tan quite like this. It’s without a doubt, the best tanning product I’ve used. Believe me, I’ve tried A LOT and failed miserably quite a lot, until now. I’ve been using ‘medium’ and it has been perfect for lil’ pale me. It creates such a beautiful, healthy and natural tan. It looks and feels like a moisturise and blends out like a dream.
Not only does it create a natural looking tan, it smells so good too, like holiday in fact! I’ve found this to be quite moisturising on my body too. Turns out that it ‘delivers powerful hydration’ so that probably explains it! I don’t think fake tanning could be any easier. This definitely makes me eager to try out more from St. Moriz! So, fellow readers, if you are fake tan queen or a little nubbin like me – treat yo self to St. Moriz because this is a solid 10/10 from me!
Things are just peachy,
when you have something from Too Faced Cosmetics Sweet Peach collection. Has anything ever quite smelt so fantastic? I don’t think so! Let me tell you about the Sweet Peach Glow Palette. You get a highlighter, blush and bronzer in this handy little trio, as I’ve said already – it smells divine. I wish technology allowed you to smell through screens because if you haven’t yet smelt it, you need to!
They’re all products that you can build on so if you want a super subtle look, you can do it with this palette. So, if you want to create that subtle look, I recommend you go light handed with your brushes. I can’t quite describe the texture of this, it’s not like your typical powder but it’s not like Colourpops ‘wet’ texture like on their highlighters and single shadows. I guess it’s like a sorta creamy powder? If you still understand what I’m trying to describe at this point, have a gold medal.
The highlighter is peculiar, it’s a champagne tone with flecks of pink. It creates such a gorgeous glow, my cheek bones just pop! The blush seems like it’s way too pink on first impressions but it’s so subtle and natural looking when it’s on. Of course, you can go bold with this if you want but I prefer natural looks with blusher. The bronzer is probably my favourite. It’s perfect for a pale chicka like me. A lot of bronzers that I’ve used in the past, make me look like I’ve been slapped in the face with mud because I’m so pale but this the perfect bronze shade for me. You can pick this up in loads of places like Debenhams and Selfridges. Treat yo self!
All of these products I adore and can’t get enough of. If you haven’t already, go check them out because I promise you. You will not be disappointed. So, what are you waiting for? GO TREAT YO SELF!
