Blogmas day eleven already… Wow. As you all know, I’m a huge lover of candles. 99% of the time, I’ll have a candle and tart burner on the go in the house. Christmas is a prime opportunity for companies to bring out some stunning scents. It only seemed fitting that I did a ‘what candles am I burning?’ post!
One little niggle I do have is how the UK does not have a Bath and Body Works… What’s happening with that?! Their candles are absolutely amazing and it makes me sooo sad that we don’t have one. Thankfully, there’s a Facebook group that can fulfil my needs! Which of course, is proving dangerous for my bank balance…
Last year, I spoke about my favourite scents for the winter. I couldn’t not do it again this year.
I’m one of those people who will happily have a candle on the go in every room. Choosing different scents for different rooms is one of my favourite things to do – am I 23 or 73? I love having scents that compliment the room and the ‘vibe’ I want to give off.
Some examples for you : I always try to go for warm, cosy scents in the front room, especially for this time of the year. Then for the bedroom, it’s usually a toss up between a soothing scent like Yankee Candle – Pink Sands or a fruity scent of some sort. Then the bathroom of course, has to have a clean and fresh scent that’s also inviting. This is something I did all the time at my parents and probably drove them round the bend doing it!
So, less of me rambling away and more sharing!
Yankee Candle Home Inspirations – Candy Cane Forest
Candy canes were my absolute favourite when I was younger. I’d always be knicking them off the tree, the smell and taste of them makes me so nostalgic. When you first smell it, you think ‘Oh. Is that it? It doesn’t smell that strong’. However, when it’s burning, it’s so much stronger and it can really fill a room with its gorgeous scent. I’ve been having this in the conservatory or the kitchen recently. If I burn this, sometimes I mix it up with Yankee’s Vanilla Ice Cream Sundae and the mix is just something else. The great thing about the home inspirations range – they’re available in supermarkets and are so much cheaper than the normal ones. They’re just as good as in my opinion!
Bath and Body Works – Hot Cocoa & Cream
This is where I’m pretty pissed at myself. I only had the tart version of this and I stupidly burned it before taking a photo. I was so excited to use the tart because I’d heard such good things, that taking photos just totally slipped my mind. Oops! I’ve done this for quite a few of them too, sorry! Anyway, this smells amazing. It fills the room within minutes of being on and it’s not a horrible, sickly smell. It’s one that’s really cosy and inviting. It actually smells like hot chocolate too! I know that sounds daft since it’s the name of the tart but sometimes you get candles that smell nothing like they should. Kayne absolutely loves this one too so it’s definitely one that we will be getting a full sized version of.
Bath and Body Works – Marshmallow Fireside
God. I love this. It’s so similar to Yankee Candle – Fireside Treats. So, if you can’t get your hands on Marshmallow Fireside, definitely treat yo self to the Yankee version! It’s just as good as I think. Marshmallow Fireside is a super sweet smell, so if you don’t do strong and sweet – this may not be the one for you. However, this is just perfect for this time of the year. It’s a warm, cosy and sweet scent. This is one of my ‘hallway and landing’ scents, it provides a really welcoming vibe to our home I think. Again, no photos because I burnt all the tart before realising.Oops.
Only & Eve – East Cay Escape*
This isn’t really a scent I would normally go for around this time of the year but it just smells so damn good. I recently tweeted that I want to try a Jo Malone candle and Only & Eve got in touch, offering to send me one of their candles. They didn’t want anything from it but just as a kind gesture. Which I thought was incredibly sweet of them! East Cay Escape smells gorgeous and has a delicate blend of melons, papaya and pretty sure there’s some coconut in there too. So, when I’m not using Candy Cane Forest in the kitchen, this is what I tend to have on the go. It just reminds me of the warmer months and I’m already counting down the days until it’s Spring/Summer again!
Bath & Body Works – Sweater Weather
This is a really different scent for me. I usually swear by my food and fruity scents but this just smells so nice. It’s warm and fresh all at the same time. This is the perfect scent for my bathroom now that it’s finished at last! God, it feels good to have candles in there again. The name as well just gives away the type of scent it is immediately. There’s blends of sage and woodland in Sweater Weather and it creates such a fresh and chilled vibe. I can also smell some sort of berry in there too. This is one I definitely want to get a full sized version of.
Asda Home – Frosted Mint
Probably one of the best candle buys in a LONG time. This is only £5.00 and burns incredibly. The smell is so strong, the scent carries through the whole downstairs of my home. They have a couple other scents but Kayne is such a fuddy duddy when it comes to winter scents, I’m not allowed to have ‘spicy’ scents or anything with cinnamon in. Which FYI is annoying. But yeah, the other scents are also stunning but this was by far my favourite anyway. Plus, how cute is the little lid?! It’s such a bargain for the quality of the candle and I definitely recommend. They don’t actually seem to have this on their website so make sure you check out your nearest Asda for this!
Yankee Candle – Let It Snow
I actually received this as a gift the other Christmas. It’s a gorgeous combination of two of their festive scents – Sparkling Snow and Cherries on Snow. They’re both incredibly festive, with fruit and fresh scents, so together they create this gorgeous balance of freshly fruity goodness. I have been burning this non stop but I need to slow down a bit or I won’t have any for next Christmas! This is definitely one one of my favourite scents for the festive season. I’m not sure if it’s actually available still but if you can get your hands on this, you definitely should!
So if you can’t already tell by the end of this post, I love candles and tarts. I love experimenting with different scents and how they reflect our home. Especially the seasonal scents! I’ve got a couple candle orders too – including some of the Bath and Body Works Christmas scents such as White Mint Latte!
