It may be the most wonderful time of the year, but it isn’t always the case for our skin. It certainly takes a pummelling at this time of the year. Here’s some of my winter beauty must haves that are currently helping to see me through these cold months!
I’m slowly but surely getting into the swing of Blogmas but man, this is tough. Even though I started months in advance – I’ve still found myself struggling to keep up to date with Blogmas. Whether it’s because I’ve retaken the photos, had technical difficulties or totally scrapped a blogmas post… It. Is. Hard. *cries*
This is going to be a mixture of skincare and makeup but I want to try and keep this a primarily makeup based post as I do have a winter skincare post planned. Annoyingly, I’m one of those who once they find a product they like, they stick to it. However, I am changing this up a lil’ bit now that it’s winter. My skin gets really dry, dull and shit at this time of year. It sucks, real bad. BUT, these products are helping me survive the colder months! Or it’s just because I can’t get enough of them. Probably the latter.
The Body Shop Vitamin C
This moisturiser is an absolute life saver. I recently published a whole post dedicated to some of The Body Shop products that I’m loving recently. But, all you need to know about this baby and is that my skin feels like it’s been born again whenever I use it. It smells citrussy but not over powering. A little goes a long way and it just feels wonderful when it soaks into your skin. I have definitely noticed a difference since using this. My nose is not dry at all and usually, it’s dry as hell at this time of the year. Winner, winner!
Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Foundation
This, is without a doubt, one of the best foundations I’ve used this year. You might’ve seen my recent review on the brand on whether it was a hit or miss! My skin feels so light and like it can breathe when I wear Fenty. The formula is lightweight, it’s buildable and leaves your skin looking flawless. For those interested, I picked up shade 110 and it is the perfect match for me. In the summer, I’ll probably need to use darkening drops (in the rare case that I get a tan) but for how much I use it, I guarantee it’ll be empty by the Spring! I can’t recommend the Fenty foundation enough. There’s still so much more I want to try from the range!
Colourpop Cosmetics Lippie Stix
I am in loveeeeeee with Colourpop again after making an order in October. Oops! Their lippie stix have such a good formula, super easy to apply and they’re not drying on the lips at all. They’re really creamy on application but do dry to a matte finish. When I first tried them I worried that they would end up making my lips really dry. Thankfully, they don’t! They’re They’re just fab. Admittedly, I only own 5 shades so my collection is super small but I think I’d rather have a small collection and use them more. The two I keep reaching for the most at the moment is Tootsi and Lumiere.
Colourpop Cosmetics Yes Please Palette
This. Is. Bae. Yes, it is another warm toned palette but it’s soooo worth it. This is the first time I’ve tried Colourpop’s pressed shadows and I’m really impressed so far. Yes Please is so pigmented, the metallic/shimmer shades especially. You can create some beautiful looks with this palette. I was pretty surprised to discover that I actually like the yellower shades – they’re not really my cup of tea but man, they work! I recently raved about this on the blog as you may have seen! I’ve been teaming this up with the Stila Cosmetics Kitten Karma.
The Ordinary Salicylic Acid*
An absolute life saver. In the winter months, especially December – I get incredibly run down because of the huge work load. Also my work place in general is dirty because of the steam trains. Which you’ll all know if you read my blog. So, of course – there’ll be spot breakouts. However, the salicylic acid takes the redness away almost instantly and within a day or two, the blemish is totally gone. Also, a little heads up – when it says do not use every day, literally don’t use it everyday. I ignored that and ended up with patch of bumpy, rough and dry skin on my forehead as a result. It soon cleared up though but just be warned! Apart from that, I have no qualms with it. Lesson learned, oops! There’s more to come with this beauty in future posts too!
There we have it, some of my favourite winter beauty must haves! Make sure you check out yesterdays post – my 2017 gift guide!
