Day nineteen, blimey. Today, we have another beauty post in store for you – yep, I know! Bourjois is a brand we all know and love. But, do their products make the perfect look or even gift for this Christmas? Are these products the best of Bourjois?
If you read my blog, you’ll know that recently I fell in love with the Bourjois Rouge Velvet lipsticks – they’re one of the best formulas I’ve tried. They’re so good for the price. Hydrating, easy to apply, a gorgeous range of shades and the quality of them is something else.
Recently, I was very kindly sent out a Best of Bourjois box, courtesy of Influenster*.
I remember using Bourjois foundation back in the day. It must’ve been at least 5-6 years ago now but I absolutely loved it. So when I saw that the Healthy Mix Foundation* was in this box, I jumped for joy! The foundation smells amazing, really fruity and it blends like a dream. This would be great if you’re on a budget but you still want that ‘high quality feel’ of foundation. I would say that this is a medium coverage and a dewy finish. I do love a good matte finish but this finish is just lovely. It lasts really well too. Your skin doesn’t feel caked or clogged up.
I’ve never tried any concealer from Bourjois, so I was pretty interested in the Healthy Mix Concealer*. But, they sent me a concealer several shades too dark so I can’t actually test it out. Hurray for being pale asf. What I can say, is that the applicator looks pretty good and when I swatched it on the back of my hand the coverage looked like it could be a decent one.
The blusher is a classic, let’s be real.
This Little Round Pot Blusher in Rose D’or* was the first blusher I ever purchased for myself. Waaaaay back when I was a noob at makeup. I forgot how much I loved this blush, it creates such a gorgeous and natural rosy cheek. I’m not a fan of the brush that comes with it but then again, who is? This is pretty pigmented though and it looks amazing when it’s on.
I never tried the little sets of eyeshadow from Bourjois, just the eyeshadow version to the blush style, specifically the silver and blue ones (yep, I know) so when I saw that the Quad Smoky Eyeshadow Palette In Mauve* was in the Influenster box, I was quite intrigued to see how it was. It’s quite pigmented when you swatch it BUT when you apply it to your lids, you HAVE to work it for a long time. Annoyingly, there quite a bit of fall out but that’s nothing that concealer and a good brush can’t fix. Admittedly, the shade choices are gorgeous and perfect for this time of the year.
The lipsticks I actually already own from my last Bourjois box. But, just a quick summary of these…
The Rouge Velvet* lipsticks are stunning and literally, one of the best formulas I’ve tried recently. I still use them on a weekly basis (although, not so much at the moment because I’m working so much). But these three shades Magni-fig, Berry Formidable and Brunette – are great for this time of year, they’re perfect and one of the best lipsticks of 2017 in my personal opinion. If you want to read more about these lipstick, check out my post that is dedicated to them!
Now, the Volume Glamour Push Up Mascara* I’m not 100% sure on. I sorta like it, I sorta don’t. It’s supposed to be volumizing. But, I found that it just doesn’t do that all the time? Maybe it’s one of those mascaras where it takes a bit of use before you see the real effects of it but we’ll have to see. It also has A LOT of excess on the brush I’ve found, so be wary of that. Don’t get me wrong, some times it does the job to a T but sometimes it’s just meh. I’ll keep persisting though and let you all know.
All in all, I’m 50.50 on this ‘Best of Bourjois’ box. I feel like there are definitely better products that Bourjois have to offer than what was in the box BUT on the flip side, there’s some pretty good products in here like the foundation, blusher, the lipstick and potentially the concealer (if it was in the right shade). It’s just mostly the eyeshadow and mascara that hasn’t really wowed me.
Would they make a good gift for stocking fillers?
Again, it’s 50.50. If you get the right products, then sure but not all of them. Of course, everyone is totally different, some people may love the mascara and eyeshadow but I don’t think they’re for me.
Have you ever tried any of these products in this post? What do you think to them? Let me know in the comments below!
