I’ve never been one for subscription boxes in general because I find that whilst there are some decent products in there, I tend to not use 80% of them. However, as this is my first time pregnant, I feel pretty clueless in it all. The Baboo Boxes looked like they could be useful to me since I have zero idea on what to expect.
Baboo Box offer four lots of boxes during pregnancy. First Trimester – Morning Wellness, Second Trimester Box – Well Hello Bump, Third Trimester Box – The Big Push and Fourth Trimester Box – The Final Delivery. These boxes are designed specifically to the trimester of your pregnancy and full of items to help you along the way.
Very kindly, they sent me the Morning Wellness box.
The First Trimester Morning Wellness box* comes with 8 products inside. So for £35.00 it’s pretty reasonable considering the wide mix of products which I wasn’t expecting. All the products are actually super useful for helping you combat the first trimester. Which of course makes a lovely change for a subscription box when you can use every product inside! So what do you get inside the box you ask?
First up, there’s the Sass and Belle Water Bottle* which comes in this cute little cactus design. It’s so important to stay hydrated anyway but even more important when you’re carrying a little bubba (or two or three). My problem is that I always forget to drink but weirdly, I find having a nice water bottle definitely encourages that. Now, I drink so much I basically gotta pee every hour which is annoying but hey, you can never have too much water right?
Thankfully, I’ve not been bad with morning sickness *touches wood* and has been relatively easy to handle.
But, I must admit the Mia & Dom Sickness Balm* has definitely helped me when a wave of nausea overcomes me. It’s really easy to use – you just simply apply the balm to the base of your nostrils and voila, as simple as that. I find the Sickness Balm incredibly calming too. Whether that’s supposed to happen I don’t know but it certainly calms me. This now lives in my bag just incase I get caught out by the dreaded sickness.
One product inside the Baboo Box that has been a massive help for me is the GinGins Sweets*.
They’re literally just hard boiled ginger sweets that you suck on when you feel nauseous. When I was looking into things to help with nausea, loads of sites said ginger related products so this is a winner. As I’ve said all the way through this pregnancy since making it public – I’ve had it easy with physical sickness but the nausea feeling has been a bit meh. However, I just suck on these beauties. They don’t really taste of anything other than ginger (duh Katie). I definitely recommend these though.
I’ve been trying to hold off buying maternity jeans for as long as possible.
These trouser extenders* have been a huge help. I was very reluctant to buy maternity jeans until week 16 or at least until I had a little bump, whichever came first (the bump won). In the mean time, I carried about my days with that bit of comfort thanks to these trouser extenders. All you do is attach them onto the original button on your jeans and they then act like the actual button. They couldn’t be more simpler or discreet if they wanted to be. These are a definite winner for me. Also ideal if you’re going to have a big meal and you want a little bit extra breathing room (Kayne’s words, not mine).
I’m familiar with Anatomicals anyway and love their products but their Not Another Rough Day Please Neroli Moisturiser* is one I haven’t tried yet until now. It’s lightly fragranced – like rose scented? But it’s lovely and subtle. You can use it daily if you like or just every now and then.
But, your body goes through so much in pregnancy, why not give it some constant TLC? It’s already helped massively on the random dry patches that I’ve got on my body – particularly my arms and lower leg areas. Already, the dry patches have taken it down a notch and are more bearable to manage.
Finally, we have these cute little bits and pieces which just make the pregnancy a little bit funner!
Pregnancy Bingo had me chuckling since quite a few of them has happened to me already. The mocktail card & accessories are also a super cute idea – who needs alcohol to have fun right? The stickers are also a cool way to see how your baby grows in size. Although, I’m not looking forward to the week when the baby is the same size as a watermelon… That’s for sure.
All in all, I can’t fault the First Trimester Box, it is so good and everything in the box is so handy for helping to tackle the first trimester. If you suffer badly with morning sickness and nausea, I 100% recommend you pick up the sickness balm and the ginger sweets, they’ve been lifesavers for me when I have felt a bit iffy.
