It’s no lie that I’m a Disney addict. One of the things that I miss most about Disney, (Walt Disney World in particular) are the scents across the parks and resorts. There’s just something about it. The scents have always stuck with me and it’s one thing I’ve really missed.
In order to help my major Disney blues, I’ve been trying to find ways to help that. I have zero idea when I might be able to go to Disney next, so I have to do something right? This is where Maple & Whisky Candle Co comes into it. My very good friend Saloca (I’m 100% aware her name is Sarah but I call her Saloca) first introduced me to these candles after her blog post on them. Which, BTW – you totally should check out! After reading her post, I fell slightly (ok, 100%) in love with the brand and I desperately wanted to purchase some of their candles. But, we had bills to pay, rooms to redecorate so I couldn’t even treat myself.
But, I soon changed that.
After lots of umming and aahing, trying to narrow it down to just a small handful of scents. I was able to get it down to just 4. Which, was pretty hard to narrow down in all honesty. There are so many significant smells across Disney and their resorts that stick out so much which I adore. In the end, I opted for Frozen Lemonade, Plaza Ice Cream, Main Street Popcorn and Philarmagic. There’s the option of an 8oz candle or the 12oz candle. I chose the smaller size – just incase I didn’t like them. Plus, it meant I could burn them faster and move onto my next candle. They also offer room sprays, melts and reed diffusers!
They are made to order, so the process/delivery time is roughly about 3 weeks(ish). I quite like that they’re made to order – it makes it feel more personal and it also makes sense to do it that way because some scents are just naturally going to be more popular than others.
Anyway, each scent is totally unique to a certain part of Disney, whether it’s a hotel, a ride or walking down Main Street USA.
Frozen Lemonade is my all time fave drink in Orlando. You can get this in pretty much any park out there and it is absolutely scrummy. We had a tradition – whenever we were in Magic Kingdom, we’d head over to Mickey’s Toontown Fair (when it existed, now it’s all changed!) and get a Frozen Lemonade drink near ‘The Barnstormer’ and just watch the world go by. This was legit the best Frozen Lemonade we’ve ever had. This candle reminds me of those times so much. The throw on the candle is decent, I’d say it’s more ideal for smaller rooms and it’s currently my bathroom scent.
If you’ve ever been on Philarmagic, you’ll know instantly what this candle smells of. If you need a little reminder – it’s that scene with Donald Duck and the apple pie. Philarmagic is an absolute must for anyone visiting Disney, it’s one of our fave experiences in the parks! This is my mum’s absolutely favourite candle from Maple and Whisky Candle Co (she has her own, no way in hell was I giving her mine. Soz mum, I love you but I don’t share xo). It’s a proper homey scent because of the huge apple pie/cinnamon kick to it and I’ve been using this in the kitchen. It seems so perfect for it. The throw on this is amazing too.
Plaza Ice Cream is of course, named after Plaza Ice Cream Parlour on Main Street USA.
The ice cream from there is just out of this world. Another tradition: When we were watching a parade, we would always head over to the parlour and get an Ice Cream Plaza Sundae and sit there soaking up the atmosphere and in awe of the parade whilst munching on the famous Sundaes. If I close my eyes and think hard enough, it’s like I’m back there. Whilst this doesn’t smell like the actual Ice Cream Sundae, it does obviously – smell like the actual parlour. The main scent I get from this is vanilla so if you’re a vanilla fan, you’ll love it. There’s also a hint of cinnamon. Now I’m just sat here crying into my laptop thinking about these damn Sundaes *sobs*.
Finally, we have Main Street Popcorn which is *ahem* A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. This is the first scent you smell when you hit Main Street USA and it just smells simply divine. This is exactly like the Main Street USA scent too. So if you love the smell of it there, you will absolutely adore this. Main Street Popcorn makes me so nostalgic and just makes me want to get back to Disney sooner. The scent is obviously in the name – it’s a butter popcorn and sort of reminds me of Bath and Body Works Summer Boardwalk. So, if you don’t want to pay the stupid amount of money for a BATB, I 100% recommend this one. The throw on this is incredible too. I think Main Street Popcorn has to be my favourite scent so far.
All the scents I’ve chosen just happen to be part of Magic Kingdom (what I associate Magic Kingdom with anyway). I swear this was unintentional!
Overall, I am so in love with Maple and Whisky Candle Co. Their candles are amazing and for the price, you can’t go wrong. It’s definitely a great way to help beat the Disney blues or if you just want to relive a particular memory/scent from the parks or hotels – then this is the way to go. There’s loads I have my eyes on for my next order, including Arendelle, Rice Krispie Treat, Adventure Is Out There and Lotso’s Hugs. You can tell I have a thing for sweet/fruity scents. I’m also aware that these photos are when the candles aren’t lit. I am terrified of lighting candles to use in my blog photos incase the cats jump up, or I knock it and set the place on fire.
Make sure you check out their Etsy store, Facebook and Instagram. I promise you, you won’t regret it. Also, a little heads up – this post is in no way sponsored or anything like that. I just proper love their candles and feel like all Disney fans should be made aware of these guys.
Have you ever tried anything from Maple and Whisky? Do you want too? Let me know in the comments below! Make sure you check out my most recent post: New in Beauty Part Two! (soz, I’m a bit shit at blogging atm).
