Erm, what? I have a two month old? Already?!
Buddy Edward Dean Holden. You are two months old and the most beautiful little boy in the world.
He has changed in so many ways since since the last update on his one month old post. From holding his head up to his first little laugh. We can’t quite believe it. We’ve known from the get go that we were going to have our hands full with Buddy, as we said in the last update, he’s quite the determined one.
Already, he is holding his head up. Albeit, his head does wobble a little bit from time to time but he’s been holding his head for a solid 4-5 minutes at a time. He’s also pushing himself up when we have him our lap so that he’s basically standing. Obviously, this gives zero indication to when he’ll be crawling/walking etc but we’re so shocked at him standing already. It does make me wonder when he’ll proceed to holding himself up on the sofa and everything else.
He did his first little laugh!
It was the cutest little laugh ever too. We couldn’t believe it! He’s been cooing and smiling at us for well over a month now. The other day, Kayne was playing with him on the bed when I was getting ready and all of a sudden the cutest laugh came from Buddy’s mouth. Both Kayne and I stopped what we were doing in shock (I cried) and thought it was just going to be a one off little fluke. We didn’t expect to hear a laugh so soon and we also said that’ll be it for a couple months but nope, we’ve definitely had about 4-5 laughs since. We’ve not been able to get it on video yet but we’ll keep trying!
Buddy loves to sleep.
At night anyway! Sleeping in the day time is already a rarity for Buddy. But, he’s been sleeping through the night since he was just over 4 weeks old. We can’t believe our luck with this one. We didn’t expect him to sleep through so soon. Before Buddy was born, we heard countless tales from parents who told us to prepare for as little sleep as possible over the next year or so. When he slept through for the first time, we were shocked (and very refreshed) to say the least. We didn’t think much of it, thinking it was just a one off situation but then the following night, he slept through again. Then the night after that and the night after that and every night since too.
We feel SO bloody lucky to be honest. We both love our sleep and I am mardy as my arse if I don’t get a decent sleep so to have a baby sleeping through so young is a blessing. He tends to have his last bottle of the day at around 10.30ish which is no bother for us as we don’t tend to go to bed until 11, it works out perfect to be honest. As soon as Buddy has finished his bottle and burped, he’s asleep. He won’t wake then until 6-7am the next morning. We’re both awake anyway come 6am as this is when Kayne gets up for work. Again, it’s worked out perfectly. Buddy even goes straight back to sleep for 3 hours after this feed, meaning I get a couple more hours too!
We moved him onto formula too.
I explained all this on my Instagram stories a few weeks back and I will do a proper blog post on this soon but I’ve always been an advocate of Fed is best. I hate the breast is best mentality and it’s whatever works for the baby and parent(s). We’re all different.
To start with, I was expressing my milk whilst he was in hospital and I continued to do this when we got home too. However, Buddy was miserable on my milk and so was I. We tried combination feeding and we soon noticed that every time Buddy had a formula bottle, he was much more content and fuller. After talking it out with Kayne, we both agreed to stop with my milk altogether and solely formula feed. I could not hack the pressures of expressing anymore. Since moving Buddy onto formula, he’s been a totally different baby. Admittedly, he still has his moments but in general, he’s much happier and fuller. Fed is always best. As long as the baby is happy, healthy and looked after, who the bloody hell cares right?
In two months, he has changed so much already.
We’ve been browsing through our many (100s) photos of Buddy since he was born and we can’t believe the difference in him already. We can’t wait to see how much more he changes over the coming months and now that his personality is REALLY starting to come out – even more since the last update – we’re curious to see how he’ll grow up too. For now, we’re just going to enjoy our time with Buddy and we can’t wait to see how much more he changes over the coming months!
I’ve been taking part in Abi’s photo challenge on Instagram called #ProjectBabyAndMe and I’ve been loving it! It’s been so much fun and it’s sorta making me fall back in love with Instagram again. It’s a wonderful hashtag and there’s such a nice little community vibe to it already. I’ve started speaking to quite a few mums through the hashtag who are just the LOVELIEST.
