Technically, by the time this post goes live – he’s going to be eight months old but it’s been hectic behind the scenes, relaunching the blog so can you forgive me? (pretty please with a cherry on top).
So yeah, we have a seven month old now. Well, eight months but we’ll just gloss over that, shall we?
Seven month update
Sooo… We went on our first staycation! Which was pretty bloody lovely. We headed up North to my childhood staycay spot – Filey. Obviously, this place holds so many memories for my family. There’s a lot of sentimental value there too, given that we used to go every year with my Mum and Dad. Filey, is one place that Dad said he would love to go too when he retires. He also said he wanted to take Buddy there so we could make our own memories.
We went swimming!
This was Buddy’s first proper encounter swimming. We did it very, very briefly in Portugal but he screamed the villa down. Then, for my own selfish reasons (being super self conscious obv) we just haven’t taken him yet. Looking back, this is something I really regret now. Buddy absolutely loved it! He was kicking away with his feet, splashing away and just taking it all in. We had to get out after he discovered the taste of chlorine and kept sucking on his hands, dipping his hands in the water andddd repeat. Anyone else’s baby do that?!
Buddy is now also walking along the sofas, cushions… you name it. He’s also slowly figuring out how to get up and stand unaided. We’re not quite there yet (phew). I don’t think it’s going to be *that* long til he’s walking though to be honest. Although, I would quite like Christmas out the way before so our tree doesn’t get 100% wrecked!
Weaning is still going great!
I was adamant that I wouldn’t do BLW but yet, here we are…
I think the thing that changed my mind was seeing Buddy actually enjoying his food, he knew what to do and he was eating/sucking away no problem. If he wasn’t eating it, enjoying it (making the cutest little noises that he does when he eats) then I would’ve stuck to traditional weaning. I guess every baby is different? Who knows, **IF** we had another, they might hate it and prefer traditional. We’ll just have to play it by ball but for now, he’s liking it so that’s all that matters.
Weirdly enough, I’m enjoying cooking too? It’s making both me and Kayne eat a lot better and just have some nice family time around the dinner table. Buddy tried some totally new bits including peanut butter (loves it and no reaction yay!), his first curry, pitta bread pizza fingers and sweet potato wedges!
